Chamraj Estate is one of the most famous estates in the hills of Nilgiri (blue mountains) found in Southern India. Chamraj belongs to United Nilgiri Tea Estates Company (UNTE), which was founded by Sir Robert Stanes in 1913. Sir Robert Stanes was a business man with philanthropic streak and set up the Stanes High School in Chennai and Coonoor, schools that were known for their high standards of education. For his efforts, and contributions to society Sir. Robert Stanes received the title of Kaiser-e-Hind which roughly translates into the Emperor of India.
Chamraj Estate changed hands in 1960 when the current owners, the Amalgamation Group, bought all businesses belonging to UNTE from the Stanes family. Since then Amalgamation has consistently invested in Chamraj giving it a premier name in the Industry. Chamra Estate is a Fair Trade and practices the Sustainable Agricultural techniques making it a part of the Rainforest Alliance.
This second flush from Chamraj produces a strong tea with deep amber liquor and strong flavors. Its one of the best Nilgiri tea we have selected for our customers.
