Ananda Estate Tea in Tea Bags
Second Flush tea in nylon pyramid tea bags
Situated in the heart of Assam valley, is the little estate called Ananda, meaning "Joy". This particular estate is very dear to me as my uncle is the garden manager at Ananda for over 20 years!
running a tea garden in Assam is a hazardous profession. From time to time one hears of the extremist nationalist elements in Assam agitating for separation from the Indian state. What is not known is that this agitation can at times take a violent turn as it once did for my uncle. My uncle was kidnapped and held for ransom for several days by some extremists who found this to be a very nice way to finance their agitation. Fortunately, after the negotiations began and it was clear that the garden stood the risk of being closed down, my uncle was freed without being harmed.
Things are much more calm these days than before, and Ananda estate continues to prosper under my uncle's leadership.
